Demetric is a veteran defensive lineman who has performed solidly as part of the Redskins’ defensive line rotation. For his career, he has played in 80 games, with 11 starts, and recorded 159 tackles (87 solo), 9.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. In spring 2004, Demetric developed his skills at the professional level by playing in the NFL Europe League with Cologne. He posted 24 tackles (15 solo), 2.5 sacks and a pass deflection.

NFL Acquisition: Signed as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in April 2001.

How Acquired: Signed by the Redskins as an unrestricted free agent in June 2004.

2007: Demetric played in 16 games with the Redskins, with one start, and recorded 31 tackles (19 solo), one sack and one forced fumble.

  • Recorded his only sack of the season in Week 5 vs. Detroit. He sacked Jon Kitna for a 9-yard loss.
  • In Week 10 vs. Philadelphia, Demetric had a season-high six tackles and a forced fumble.
  • Demetric’s High School (Haynesville) retired his No. 71 jersey this past season.
     

2006: Demetric played in 16 games as a reserve defensive lineman and recorded 22 tackles (14 solo), two sacks and one forced fumble.

  • He recorded three tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in the Redskins’ season opener against the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 11.
  • In Week 2 at Dallas, he recorded one tackle and made a key block on a kickoff return to spring returner Rock Cartwright on a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
  • He recorded a season-high four tackles and one sack of Byron Leftwich in Week 4 vs. Jacksonville.

2005: Demetric played in 16 games, with three starts, and logged 32 tackles (22 solo) and three sacks. He also had a fumble recovery. Demetric also played in both playoff games for the Redskins and had a sack in the Wild Card game against Tampa Bay.

  • In Week 1, played in a reserve role and recorded one tackle and one sack of Kyle Orton for minus-10 yards.
  • In Week 8 vs. New York Giants, he logged eight tackles (five solo) and one sack of Eli Manning for minus-8 yards.
  • In Week 14 at Arizona, he recorded three tackles (one solo) and one sack of Kurt Warner.
  • In the Redskins’ Wild Card playoff game at Tampa Bay, he had two solo tackles and one sack of Chris Simms for minus-8 yards.

2004: Demetric elevated his play when defensive end Phillip Daniels was sidelined for parts of the 2004 season. He played in 12 games and started eight, recording 31 tackles (15 solo) and 2.5 sacks.

  • In Week 4 at Cleveland, he recorded his first sack as a Redskin and added three tackles.
  • In Week 5 vs. Baltimore, he logged six tackles (two solo).
  • In the season finale vs. Minnesota, he recorded 1.5 sacks of Vikings’ QB Duante Culpepper and added a season-high seven tackles (three solo).

2003: Spent training camp with the Dallas Cowboys but was released on Sept. 1, 2003. Did not play during the regular season.

2002: Played four games with the Dallas Cowboys and recorded seven tackles and two quarterback pressures.

2001: Played in all 16 regular-season games with the Dallas Cowboys after making the team as an undrafted rookie free agent. Finished the season with 35 tackles, five QB pressures, two passes defensed, one sack and a forced fumble.

  • Forced a fumble on his first career sack against the San Diego Chargers on Sept. 23, 2001.
     

College/Personal:

  • Played in all 11 games for Georgia as a senior and finished the season with 32 tackles.
  • As a junior, he started in the Bulldogs’ 28-25 victory against Purdue in the Outback Bowl and finished the year with 30 tackles and one sack.
  • Played in all 11 regular-season games as a sophomore and registered 19 tackles.
  • Involved with the Dallas community through charitable endeavors that included the Challenge Air for Kids and Friends event for physically handicapped children, donating clothing and toys through the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program and serving as a guest football coach at the Cowboys Annual Let Us Play! Sports Camp for girls.
  • Named Louisiana AA Defensive Player of the Year as a senior at Haynesville High School.
